In Portrait Photography Light Painting : Guide with Flash and LED we take a look at how to paint with LED light in the studio and combine it for both still life and portrait images. In the video I demonstrate various LED products and how the different types affect the results. I also go over things such as camera settings and environmental considerations that will give you the most control over your final images. Light painting can be applied without flash photography, but in all instances this video features a flash-lit subject as well because I think that’s more applicable to portraits.
One key to control is a very dark environment. This gives you the flexibility to use really long shutter speeds which is necessary for covering a lot of space with physical movement.
