In this video I take you step by step how I prep and shoot a milkbath maternity session – from cleaning and setting up the bathroom to supply list, posing, lighting and cleanup after the shoot.

Milk bathtub photo shoot is great way to expand your portfolio and try something new – it doesn’t have to be a maternity session, I’ve done it as a fashion /beauty shoot with a model, and as a baby milkbath photo shoot (confident sitters 6+ months old only).

The whole shoot + prep takes me up to 3 hrs with around 45 min of actual shoot time and the rest to prep and clean.

You will see exactly how my bathroom looks and why it works so well for bathtub photo shoots.

I start with sanitizing bathtub, then filling the tub and mixing in powdered milk until I get the murky water effect. In the video I show you a few tricks I’ve learned on how to cut the flowers, so that they float better.

You will also see me directing my maternity client into poses. There’s only so much you can do in the tub, so I try to get more variety with different angles and overhead shots from a ladder.

At the same time, a milk bath photo shoot is great for maternity sessions, because you can control how much you see above the surface, so it has a slimming effect.

Finally, I explain how I educate my clients before the shoot, wha to bring to a milkbath session, how I started doing milk bathtub photography and why I offer it as an add-on to my packages.

You will see me cleaning up after the milkbath photo shoot and I share a few tips to prevent the flowers getting into the drain.
